Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer‘s Asian management team is undergoing a shake-up in response to the region’s continuing economic recovery.
Hong Kong and Asia managing partner Ruth Markland will step down from the Hong Kong role in the New Year. Asia litigation and arbitration head Rajat Jindal will take on the position as Markland concentrates on Asia as a whole.
Markland became the firm’s first Asia managing partner in 1996.
The firm is also employing a head of human resources (HR) for the region. PricewaterhouseCoopers Hong Kong head of executive recruitment Mary Wicks has been hired to fill the role.
The HR position has been created to allow Markland to concentrate on strategy and client liaison. She says: “I’d like to stand back and look at the bigger picture. A lot of my role has been HR based and the idea is to shift some of that.”
