Dewey & LeBoeuf has hired a Fried Frank Harris Shriver & Jacobson partner to co-chair its global compensation, benefits and employment department.
Howard Adler will join the firm’s New York office as a partner in mid-September and will lead the global practice group alongside co-chair Martha Steinman, who is also based in New York.
Steinman said: “It’s very exciting for the firm to attract someone of Howard’s excellent reputation. Howard and I can now join forces in developing this practice group and expanding the global team.”
Adler, who joins Dewey after 21 years at Fried Frank, focuses on employee benefits and compensation in M&A deals.
Steinman commented: “This area has become much more active in recent years. Since 2002 corporate governance and executive compensation have become topics that are crucial for companies. As a result firms have been building up in this practice area.”
The firm’s US global compensation and employment team has a total of six partners and 17 associates.
