After three years as a businessman, before which he was former head of the technology group at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, Gary Reback has returned to the law.
Reback is acting for local company Bulletproof Technologies, which has launched a suit against Navitaire, which owns a computerised ticket reservation system.
Bulletproof wants a ruling that will prove its own system does not infringe on Navitaire’s copyright. Last year Navitaire brought a suit against easyJet concerning issues over its ticket reservation system.
Widely regarded as technology’s defender of the little guy, Reback came to prominence after publishing a white paper highlighting many of the issues that became part of the US government’s antitrust battle against IT behemoth Microsoft.
He then worked closely with the government structuring the case which saw the Department of Justice and 19 states sue Microsoft.
After leaving the law, Reback helped set up internet and telephony group Voxeo, although he has since scaled back the time he spends managing the company.
