Security Awareness is vital and means so much more than a firewall and anti virus (as important as they are of course) Reply Link Jon Inns, Director of Product Management, Accumuli 28 October 2013 at 13:09 IT security should be a priority for every law firm. It sounds like a given, but if you consider the increasing incidences of security breaches reported in the media, it obviously needs a lot more attention. With the way threats are evolving and cyber criminals getting more cunning, it’s no longer a case of if a security breach will happen, but rather, when. While a comprehensive IT security strategy may not always be enough to stop such an incursion, it can assist in identifying threats as they happen and the reasons that they happened. It can further assist in developing preventative measures going forward, as well as set out guidelines on how to deal with the breach and its implications for the business. Awareness is key for anyone who wishes to understand the challenges and to help them determine how to establish their own personal needs. I was given a printed copy from someone close to me in the legal profession this evening which goes into great detail; I would urge any practitioner to buy a copy and read it whilst they can still find one. Again, a brilliant piece of journalism ! Reply Link Matthew Twigger 2 March 2015 at 11:04 I’ve just come across this article now, but I fear the landscape has not changed. The dangers are evident and obvious when looking at the flaws that we have as humans. Certainly the key is awareness, individuals need to be responsible for their own and their companies data. The media is happy to showcase the results of criminal/cyber activity, we need to ensure internally that we showcase the preventative measures that we can put in place to mintigate security breaches. https://cyber-security-llp.squarespace.com/blog/ Reply Link Name Email Cancel reply Threaded commenting powered by interconnect/it code.
