Crown estate/london & regional

Garretts’ head of property Keith Barnett is working hard to consolidate a growing relationship with London & Regional, the private property company run by entrepreneurs Ian and Richard Livingstone. The UK member firm of Andersen Legal started acting for London & Regional 18 months ago when it was instructed to advise on the refurbishment of Stratford-upon-Avon town centre. Other instructions since then have included the development at 68 King William Street, which will become the City’s first department store, and the Park Royal scheme.

The St George’s Court scheme, worth around £60m, is characteristic of London & Regional’s strategy of using its development expertise to leverage bank finance on pre-let developments. The building was vacated by the Ministry of Defence (MoD) last year and has been acquired on a headlease from the Crown Estate. The MoD will return to the site after the refurbishment under a new lease.
