CC plans new global partner structure

Clifford Chance will undertake a major overhaul of its internal structure following its merger with Rogers & Wells.

The most senior position at the new firm will be chairman. This post has been reserved for someone from Clifford Chance, who will almost certainly be senior partner Keith Clark.

The firm will have regional managing partners in the US, UK, Europe and Asia. Rogers & Wells' managing partner Laurence Cranch is likely to fill the US role.

There will also be five global practice heads – contentious, real estate, corporate/M&A, securities, and finance.

Partners will find out who is to fill the posts when they receive the merger document in the next two weeks. “The managing partners won't cause any great surprises,” says a source. “But there will be jockeying for position over some of the practice head posts.”
