BLP reshapes finance team with new divisional heads

Berwin Leighton Paisner has named two new department heads within its finance team following a string of exits from the firm.

The appointment of partner Naveen Vijh as head of the real estate finance (REF) team follows the defection of real estate finance partner Laurence Rogers to DLA Piper (28 February 2014)

Partner Mark Richards will lead the projects and infrastructure team (P&I) following the elevation of incumbent of Adam Dann to finance head, which came after the surprise exit of former chief Matthew Kellett (30 October 2013). Kellett’s resignation prompted a wholesale review of the banking team at the firm.

Real estate finance partner Vijh advised Barclays Bank on the refinancing of its largest ground rent deal back in 2003, he joined the partnership in the same year.

Richards, who trained at the firm, was made partner in 2006 and has a particular focus across a raft of industry areas including energy, major infrastructure, transport and defence.

The finance team has seen a number of exits over the last twelve months. Those included partners Trevor Wood and Richard Todd who left for to Mayer Brown’s banking and finance team in October (24 October 2013). In July, asset finance partner Lisa Marks moved to Stephenson Harwood (9 July 2013) while finance partner Andrew Bamber also quit the firm (22 July 2013).
