White & Case has announced its retention rate for September 2020. Of a cohort of 24 trainees, 21 were offered newly-qualified (NQ) jobs at the firm, with all accepting. Two are on fixed-term contracts.

Seven trainees will not qualify into London but instead will join offices across the firm’s international network, in Abu Dhabi, Dubai, Geneva, Moscow and Singapore.

White & Case is one of the few City firms that guarantees its trainees six months overseas, an experience that has been hit by the coronavirus pandemic. To counter this the firm is running ‘remote international seats’.

Training partner Inigo Esteve said: “We are determined to honour the White & Case commitment to provide our trainees with valuable international experience, while always prioritising their well-being. Running remote overseas seats is consistent with this goal, remains a great development opportunity for our trainees and also benefits our overseas offices, which continue to need and appreciate the contribution of London trainees.”
