White & Case has increased its salary for trainee solicitors.

As of 1 June, first-years at the firm take home £48,000, up from £46,000, while second-years get £53,000, up from £50,000.

The salaries are not quite at the top of the market, since Kirkland & Ellis and Milbank Tweed both pay a £50,000 salary to first years, but White & Case outstrips virtually every other firm.

Newly-qualified solicitors at the firm get £105,000.

Yesterday, Clifford Chance raised its salary for newly-qualified solicitors from £91,000 to £100,000, following the lead of Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer last month.
