Vinson & Elkins has followed in the footsteps of its US rivals by raising its pay level for British newly qualified (NQ) solicitors.

The firm has increased NQ pay from £147,500 to £153,400. Five of the firm’s six qualifiers this autumn will stay on to take advantage of the new rates, which come into effect on 1 July.

Two of the September NQs will join the M&A and capital markets team, with one going to energy and projects, one to litigation and and the final one joining the finance practice.

Training principal Andrew Nealon said: “We are delighted that we were able to extend an NQ offer to all of our qualifiers. We are incredibly proud of them all and their ability to thrive in a new working environment. We look forward to seeing our qualifiers continue to excel in their new positions.”
