US law firm accused of hacking

US firm Steptoe & Johnson is being sued for alleged computer hacking.

The Washington-based practice is being accused by Moore Publishing, an online information company, of breaking into one it's websites.

One of Moore's businesses is cyber-squatting: it buys the rights to domain names planning to sell those rights on at a profit.

It owns the rights to variations of the names of several law firms, including

Moore's attorney believes a systems analyst from Steptoe & Johnson was told to research the company after the firm discovered Moore owned the domain name.

Steptoe & Johnson claims that one of its employees entered the site,, by mistake.

It is not claimed that anything was taken or damaged on the site, simply that the entry was unauthorised.
