Untouchable lands at Kirkland & Ellis

Kirkland & Ellis has added a mafia busting crime fighter fresh from the US Attorney’s Office for the Eastern District of New York to its commercial litigation group.

White-collar crime specialist Andrew Genser is joining the firm as a partner after firstly practising in the organised crime and racketeering section of the US Attorney’s Office before being appointed as deputy chief in the general crimes section.

During his time at the US Attorney’s Office, Genser acted as the lead trial attorney on a case that led to the conviction of Peter Gotti, brother of the now deceased mob boss John Gotti, “godfather” of the Gambino crime family.

Gotti and 16 other organised crime figures were convicted in multiple racketeering counts including one related to the attempted extortion of actor Steven Seagal, star of box office gold such as “Hard to Kill”, “Out for a Kill” and “Marked for Death”.
