The University of Law (ULaw) has struck deals with four other universities to guarantee their graduates places on its forthcoming Solicitors Qualification Exam (SQE) prep course.

The agreement has been reached between ULaw and the Universities of Southampton, Surrey, Leicester and Birkbeck.

As part of the deal, ULaw will provide workshops during the other universities’ undergraduate degrees on the skills needed to pass the SQE. At the end of their course, graduates will be guaranteed a place on ULaw’s SQE prep course, or its Legal Practice Course (LPC) should they prefer.

The agreements relate to law graduates with 2:1 degrees or above, though ULaw will consider graduates who scored 2:2 degrees with mitigating circumstances.

Peter Crisp, pro vice chancellor external at ULaw, said: “We are delighted to be entering into these new partnerships. We look forward to guiding future generations of students through the forthcoming changes to qualifying as a solicitor and supporting them to achieve their career goals.”

ULaw has signed a plethora of deals with other UK universities over the years, with current partnerships in place with the University of East Anglia, as well as the Universities of Exeter, Reading, Liverpool and Sheffield.
