A lawyer at the United States’ most elite firm has broken his silence to criticise Donald Trump’s recent Tweetstorm.
George Conway III is a partner at Wachtell Lipton Rosen & Katz, widely regarded as America’s most exclusive and prestigious firm.
He is also a Trump supporter and is married to Kellyanne Conway, a White House senior adviser close to the President.
In the wake of the attack on London last weekend, Trump let off a series of Tweets, including some on his proposed ‘travel ban’, an immigration order which would restrict people from certain countries entering the US.
People, the lawyers and the courts can call it whatever they want, but I am calling it what we need and what it is, a TRAVEL BAN!
— Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) June 5, 2017
The Justice Dept. should have stayed with the original Travel Ban, not the watered down, politically correct version they submitted to S.C.

Conway, who has had a Twitter account since 2012 but had not Tweeted since December 2015, broke his silence to point out that Trump’s outburst would make it harder for the Office of the Solicitor General to argue the case for the immigration order in the Supreme Court.
These tweets may make some ppl feel better, but they certainly won't help OSG get 5 votes in SCOTUS, which is what actually matters. Sad. https://t.co/zVhcyfm8Hr

He went on to add a series of Tweets expressing his support for the President, but adding that “Tweets on legal matters seriously undermine [the Administration’s] agenda” and the President himself.
1) Just to be clear, and in response to inquiries, I still VERY, VERY STRONGLY support POTUS, his Admin, policies, the executive order …

2) … and of course, my wonderful wife. Which is why I said what I said this morning. Every sensible lawyer in WHCO and every political …

3) … appointee at DOJ wd agree with me (as some have already told me). The pt cannot be stressed enough that tweets on legal matters …

4) … seriously undermine Admin agenda and POTUS–and those who support him, as I do, need to reinforce that pt and not be shy about it.

Conway was considered for various positions within the Trump administration, including Solicitor General. However, he recently withdrew from consideration to lead the Civil Division of the Department of Justice, citing family reasons.
