TLT has appointed its first non-executive director Jeremy Horner to its Executive Board to advise on strategy development and future growth opportunities.

Jeremy is an experienced non-executive director with a portfolio including the UK Patent & Trademark Attorneys, Kilburn & Strode LLP and more recently, with Shoosmiths LLP. Jeremy is also the non-executive chairman of the Remuneration Committee at global construction consultancy RLB Ltd and an Appointments Panel Member for the Independent Press Standards Organisation.

Jeremy’s career spans Deloitte (Touche Ross), Charterhouse Bank and chartered surveyors Davis Langdon. During Jeremy’s time as CFO and subsequently Chief Executive at Davis Langdon, the business grew through a series of acquisitions to become a 400 million dollar worldwide operation that was eventually acquired by AECOM.

Jeremy’s appointment comes after a period of sustained growth for the firm and is part of a wider package of changes to the firm’s governance structure that will better enable it to respond to business opportunities and changing client demands. Changes over the last year include the creation of an Executive Board focused on strategy development and the appointment of Operations Director Jeff Wright to lead an Operations Board responsible for strategy implementation and the day-to-day running of the firm.

Commenting on the appointment, TLT Managing Partner David Pester said:

“Law firm strategy is ever-evolving. We need to drive growth in a mature UK legal market and adapt the way we deliver as innovation ramps up and clients look for change.

“Jeremy’s experience fits well with where TLT is as a business and how we continue to grasp the opportunities of a changing market. He will bring an important independent perspective to the firm – particularly drawing on his experience to support with our future growth objectives and transformation programme.”

TLT’s non-executive director Jeremy Horner commented:

“TLT will be a really interesting business to work with. It is big enough to have a fantastic mix of clients in the sectors where it focuses and a broad work portfolio.  But, it remains of a size where it is agile enough to grasp some of the exciting developments in the industry to achieve real competitive advantage. Something its culture also supports. The senior leadership team is passionate about growing and building the business and I’m excited to be part of that journey.”

TLT recently announced a raft of hires to build out its presence in Scotland including the acquisition of specialist real estate practice Leslie Wolfson & Co in Glasgow.

The firm is also ramping up its transformation agenda with a £500k investment to drive change in the way the firm delivers legal services to clients. The firm’s revenues topped £82m in 2018, representing 60%+ growth over the last five years.
