Trade-union and personal injury specialist Thompsons has a new chief executive and has created the new post of executive chair.

Current CEO Geoff Shears moves into the new executive chair role, while client director Stephen Cavalier, formerly the head of the firm’s employment rights group, takes Shears’ place as CEO.

Cavalier commented: “It’s a balance of continuity and change. The new role of executive chair will enable Geoff to focus on staff and relationships, while I can continue my emphasis on client relationships and business development.”

Cavalier explained that present stability in the leadership of Britain’s trade unions had created a stable environment within which to make the changes.

The biggest trade union firm, Thompsons has a presence in 18 cities in England and associated offices in Belfast, Edinburgh and Glasgow.
