Brendan Murphy was born in Tramore, Ireland in 1943. He is head of the commercial litigation department at Edward Lewis.

What was your first job?

Throwing out drunks from an Irish pub then attempting to get them back in again when business got slack.

What was your first ever salary as a lawyer?

u4 10s/-, give or take the odd farthing.

What would you have done if you hadnt become a lawyer?

As little as possible.

What was your most embarrassing professional moment?

As a young lawyer I went on to a building site to threaten an injunction, and was offered a job as a navvy by a little Irish foreman.

Lucy my boxer dog for a walk.

Where would you go to eat?

Ballymalloe House, Cork.

Inspector Morse.

My badminton shoes.

Not taking myself too seriously always!
