The final shortlist for The Lawyer European Awards can be revealed: the much-coveted Global In-house Lawyer of the Year.
This year the shortlisted in-house lawyers range across the breadth of Europe, from Ireland in the west to Poland in the east. What unites them is a commitment to excellence and strong leadership in running a cross-border legal team.
Scott Dresser led a transformation of the Vimpelcom legal department that involved internal restructuring and the establishment of strong process-driven efficiencies. Marcus Heppner is a key member of the management team at Grünenthal Group and led the legal team on a number of global product acquisitions and partnerships. Gwen Mahe is a driving force behind Dyson’s continued expansion both geographically and in new product launches.
Alice Marsden has introduced rigour and innovation to Thomas Cook’s growing legal team as well as leading on headline deals and partnerships. Catherine Noirfalisse at Campari Group led on a complex demerger of its Irish arm at the same time as a major acquisition, while Xavier Pujol has demonstrated versatility and strategic input across Grupo Prisa’s activities. Olgierd Świerzewski has led on a slew of mission-critical acquisitions across Central and Eastern Europe for ORBIS, while Femi Thomas undertook a complete overhaul of Nokia’s investigations processes.
