Slaughter and May has retained 89 per cent of its autumn 2016 qualifiers.
In a statement, a spokesperson said: “In terms of September qualification, 35 of 36 qualifiers put themselves forward and the firm made 34 offers of which 32 were accepted.”
“Our overall retention rate was therefore broadly in line with previous years. We are very pleased with this continued strong showing which bodes well for the long-term future of the firm.”
Slaughters is the final magic circle firm to release its retention figures this autumn. It ranks behind Freshfields, which kept on 95 per cent of its qualifiers, and Linklaters, which retained 91 per cent, but ahead of Allen & Overy (86 per cent) and Clifford Chance (82 per cent).

They join six different teams across the firm: corporate, construction, Islamic finance, employment, commercial and clinical negligence. Four will work in Bristol, one in Exeter and one in Plymouth.

Overall, 46 firms have revealed their retention figures this autumn, with 82 per cent of trainees remaining at the firm that trained them.
