Slater & Gordon’s world domination

Having arrived on the UK scene at the height of post-LSA hysteria with its audacious acquisition of litigation and personal injury (PI) powerhouse Russell Jones & Walker in February 2012, Aussie listed PI specialist Slater & Gordon has proved today it still has its eyes trained on the prize of becoming the UK’s first consumer law household name.

Along with announcing its latest financials, which are not to be sniffed at considering that neither the UK or Australian markets have had the best of years, the firm also announced its latest UK acquisition.

Just days after bolting on Taylor Vinters’ Cambridge-based PI team, the firm has now gobbled up London and Manchester-based PI practice Fentons Solicitors and is still on track to complete the acquisition of Goodmans at the end of this month.

Somewhere in the hubbub of formulating a national consumer law brand merger talks with Simpson Millar have been ‘deferred’, according to today’s financial report. Maybe merger-hungry Slater & Gordon’s eyes were a little too big for its stomach on this occasion but there’s no doubt the feeding frenzy will continue.
