The case concluded in July 2008 after a 110-day hearing in which 70 witnesses took to the stand (see blog).
Ramsey J came in for criticism last October for failing to produce his judgment after having worked on it for over a year (26 October 2009). Now his detractors have been silenced and BSkyB has been handed a major victory.
Next month quantum will be decided. Already BSkyB’s lawyers at Herbies have stated that their client will be looking for a minimum £200m settlement.
Meanwhile Hewlett Packard, which now owns EDS, plans to go to the Court of Appeal.
Ramsey J’s judgment was long-awaited, but it looks like it didn’t put an end to the matter.
