Cuatrecasas Gonçalves Pereira former co-managing partner Diogo Perestrelo has left the firm with a team of five lawyers to join rival Portuguese firm PLMJ.

Perestrelo, who was a partner at Cuatrecasas since 1999 and worked at the firm for 24 years, was appointed co-managing partner in 2009 alongside Maria João Ricou. He stepped down from the post in July 2015.

Perestrelo has joined PLMJ as a partner in the firm’s M&A practice, which now numbers 47 lawyers.

Perestrelo said that he has moved to PLMJ because it was “time for a new challenge”.

His long-standing team is made up of consultant Elsa Pizarro Pardal, managing associate Ana Graça Remondes, senior associates Stéphanie Sá Silva and Nuno Marques, and associate Guilherme Seabra Galante.

PLMJ managing partner Luís Pais Antunes said: “His track record and impressive know-how in the areas of M&A, venture capital and management of major cases, together with his international experience, will undoubtedly bring enormous added value to both our M&A practice and to our clients.”
