Simpson Thacher & Bartlett has promoted nine partners across London and New York, with a third being made up in the City.

Most of the promotions have been made in the firm’s corporate groups, with lawyers specialising in capital markets, derivatives and private funds all joining the partnership from next year.

In London, three women have been made up, including capital markets associate Carol Daniel. Real estate associate Wheatly MacNamara has also been promoted alongside private funds lawyer Seema Shah.

Simpson Thacher & Bartlett’s remaining six promotions come from New York, with Susannah Geltman the only litigation lawyer to be made up this year.

Women make up over half of the appointments, an increase on last year’s total in which a third of the new partners were female.

The firm has increased its promotions round this year, after six lawyers were made up in 2014, but is a way off its 2011 total which saw 12 partners made up.
