This month’s Signal International report – the Nordic 50 – represents a refreshed editorial approach that places greater focus on the business models, strategies and recruitment methods of Europe’s leading firms. In The Lawyer’s most recent European 100 report, more than a quarter of the firms (27) featured were from the Nordic region and for this reason, it made sense to compile a report on the size and shape of this market. The remaining 23 firms in this report include a select group of significant regional law firms as well as the international players that have offices in the region.

As many of the firms use a calendar year-end, we ranked the firms on a headcount basis to give you a sense of how many qualified lawyers they have, as well as the size of their respective partnerships. We also assesesed the gender diversity in the Nordic region and compared the firms in their individual jurisdictions too.

Our analysis showed that two firms are the undisputed heavyweights in the region with more than 400 qualified lawyers. In terms of partner headcount and size, we noticed that they are substantially smaller than in many firms’ city offices. Indeed, only two firms in the Nordic 50 have regional partner headcounts in triple figures.

To find out which firms ranked at the top, and which firms in the region are the most gender diverse, read the report now!
