Gerry Boyle QC represented a Chief Inspector in the Metropolitan Police Service who was accused of “shoulder barging” a colleague at a careers event for senior officers at New Scotland Yard. Gerry cross examined the complainant and the sole witness to the alleged assault, both of whom were also senior officers.

The Judge found Gerry’s client not guilty, awarded costs against the CPS and asked the CPS to consider whether it was appropriate to have brought the prosecution.

James Berry was instructed at earlier stages in the litigation.

Gerry and James were instructed by Deborah Britstone of Markel Law LLP on behalf of the Police Superintendents Association of England & Wales.
