By Anthony Haycroft

Anthony Haycroft successfully represented a biomedical scientist on a pro-bono basis in a 4 day Fitness to Practise hearing at the Health Care Professionals Tribunal Service in London. The registrant admitted to 5 serious blood checking errors over a 7 month period 4 years ago which could have been life threatening. He had been dismissed by his employer before being reinstated due to a health context. He self-referred but the HCPC did not accept the health context suggesting a striking off order could be made. The registrant accepted misconduct and impairment and, on the basis of expert health evidence which was accepted, argued for a Conditions of Practice Order for a year, which the Panel duly ordered.

Anthony Haycroft was instructed by Sarah Bingham of Aspect Law, Birmingham who also acted on a pro-bono basis for the registrant.
