Salans follows Berlin group with London hire

Bodo Schaar, previously a partner in from Simmons & Simmons’ restructuring and insolvency practice, has joined Salans as a member of the firm’s 12-strong London restructuring, reorganisation and insolvency team.

Schaar is dual-qualified in both Germany and England and will focus on financial restructuring and insolvency as well as banking and capital markets.

The firm said he would be a “crucial part” of Salans’ German international practice group, a network of German-speaking lawyers and tax advisers across 15 of its 21 international offices.

Salans’ London office managing partner Howard Cohen said Schaar’s “nexus with the German market through both client work and qualification” would complement the firm’s established restructurings practice in Germany.

Prior to joining Salans Schaar was a partner at Simmons from 2005.

Schaar’s appointment follows the hire of eight employment lawyers from German law firm Beiten Burkhardt.

The team increases Salan’s partnership in the German capital to 18. The firm has a further three partners in Frankfurt, with a total of 65 lawyers across its two German offices.
