RPC reveals autumn 2017 retention

RPC will retain 82 per cent of its trainees qualifying this autumn

Fourteen of 17 trainees will stay on as newly qualified (NQ) solicitors.

Twelve will take up jobs in the firm’s London office, with one joining in Bristol and one who will permanently transfer to Hong Kong in January.

Three join the firm’s insurance practice and another three go to commercial disputes; Two apiece go to corporate group, IP/technology and commercial contracts, with the final two joining the media and construction/projects teams.

Training partner Simon Hart said: “Like all law firms, our trainees work very hard to secure their training contracts and then throw themselves into two years of training. It is incredibly satisfying for the firm to see our junior talent mature and to see such a high number ultimately qualifying into roles across the departments this year, including our first London based NQ moving to our office in Hong Kong.”

“While we were unable to accommodate a small number of our qualifying trainees due to certain departments being heavily over-subscribed with applicants, every single one of our trainees has made a positive contribution to life at RPC over the last two years.”

Meanwhile, Trowers & Hamlins has taken on seven of 10 trainees (70 per cent) and Withers has kept eight of 11 (73 per cent).
