RPC has launched a new secondment for London trainees, to its Singapore office.

The six-month placement will be open to a first or second-year trainee from March to September 2017. It will be an insurance seat, focusing on complex high value property and casualty disputes.

The firm has been growing its presence in Singapore for a number of years. It initially opened its doors in the country in 2011 after hiring insurance and reinsurance partner Mark Errington, then expanded in 2012 by transferring legal director Jeremy Hewitt to from London to the Singapore office. The firm doubled its size in the city-state earlier in January through a combination with local firm Premier Law. It now has more than 25 legal professionals working in the office,

RPC training principal Simon Hart said: “This new secondment is a key opportunity for our trainees, and will enable the secondee to grow their global business experience as well as build mutually-beneficial relations with colleagues in Singapore.

“The secondment is driven by current business needs. Our teams in Singapore are extremely busy right now, so announcement of this new secondment comes at just the right time in the development of our Asia-Pacific offering.

“Our closer working relationship between London, Hong Kong and Singapore is testament to the value we place on fostering cohesion and collaboration between people in all our offices.”

The firm launched its first overseas secondment for trainees, to Hong Kong, in 2015.
