Ropes & Gray partner Monica Gogna has left the firm after three years to join Dechert’s London finance practice.
Gogna is the eighth partner to leave Ropes London office, according to data compiled by The Lawyer.
Her exit follows those of Anand Damodaran and Marcus Thompson who joined Kirkland & Ellis; Mark Wesseldine and Fergus Wheeler, who departed for King & Spalding; restructuring partner James Douglas, who joined Linklaters; finance partner Chris McGarry, who left for White & Case; and former City senior partner Maurice Allen, who joined DLA Piper.
Gogna joined Ropes in 2014 from Pinsent Masons, where she was a partner for a year. Prior to that, she was a senior associate at Clifford Chance.
Gogna is the firm’s sixth hire in London in the last 12 months, after Kirkland partner John Markland; White & Case partner Ross Allardice; DLA Piper partners Philip Butler and David Miles; and Clifford Chance partner Stephen Surgeoner.
Gogna, who is joining the firm’s financial services sector pratice, will focus on advising financial institutions primarily in the asset management sector and has significant experience in cross-border regulatory matters.
