Gowling WLG – the firm previously known in the UK as Wragge Lawrence Graham & Co until its merger with a Canadian firm earlier this year – has retained 78 per cent of its qualifying trainees this year.
The firm had a qualifying cohort of 23 trainees and took on 18 of them as newly qualified solicitors, including one on a fixed term contract.
Ten of the NQs will work in London and eight in Birmingham.
Elsewhere, Browne Jacobson has held on to eight of 10 qualifiers.
Seven join the firm’s business services team while one goes to business and professional risk.
Four of the NQs will work in the Nottingham office with two in Birmingham and two in London.
Ince & Co is keeping on eight on of nine trainees (89 per cent), while Withers is retaining 10 of 12 (83 per cent)
Three Withers qualifers join the firm’s famous family team, two each go to litigation/arbitration, contentious trusts/succession and wealth planning, while the employment and commercial groups take the remaining two. Training Partner Ceri Vokes said: “We’re very pleased with the strong outcome in this year’s qualifying trainee group.”
