Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan is to launch an offering in Boston, making it the firm’s ninth office in the US.

The firm announced this week that the office will be spearheaded by three partners – Steven Cherny, Patrick Curran, and Sandra Bresnick.

The three partners, who all specialise in IP litigation, will relocate from Quinn’s New York office for the launch.

Cherny joined Quinn from Kirkland & Ellis earlier this year, where he had focused on patent litigation in Federal Courts and the United States International Trade Commission.

Bresnick co-chairs Quinn’s life sciences practice, while Curran joined the firm a decade ago from Washington DC-based Kellogg Hansen Todd Figel and Frederick.

Boston will be Quinn’s ninth office in the US and its 22nd overall.

This year, Quinn opened its fourth base in Germany after hiring Latham & Watkins lawyer Ruediger Lahme in Stuttgart.

The litigation firm also joined a handful of US firms in Australia after it launched in Perth.
