Gowling WLG is pleased to welcome back Shahrzad Esmaili, a prominent intellectual property practitioner, as a partner located in its Toronto office.

A registered patent agent in both Canada and the United States, Esmaili has over 10 years of experience in patent strategy, patent prosecution and drafting, with an emphasis on patent and design applications relating to business methods, electrical and computer inventions, financial services, biomedical and mechanical devices. She also has significant experience in drafting freedom-to-operate, infringement and validity opinions for clients in view of potential litigation issues.

Esmaili is also actively involved with regional start-ups and the university community.

Esmaili returns to Gowling WLG after several years at another major business law firm and at a large Canadian IP boutique.
