Pinsents’ Leeds’ ladies take the lead
Today was a good day to be a woman in Pinsent Masons’ Leeds office.
Three of the six women promoted to the partnership are based there, and the two corporate lawyers among them, Alison Starr and Catherine Hemsworth, comprise the entirety of the promotions in corporate.
The Lawyer tried to get in touch with Alison and Catherine today but without success. They’re probably out celebrating.
However it wasn’t such a good day for the firm’s Birmingham office, which saw just one new partner, real estate lawyer Lisa Middleton.
And it was an even worse day for the IP and TMT department, which bagged a grand total of zero.
Overall Pinsents made up three fewer partners this year compared to last year, when the firm promoted a record 20 associates. But then 17 is more than the paltry 12 the firm made up in 2006, its so swings and roundabouts really.
Pinsents has spread those promotions liberally across the UK, with the firm’s London and Leeds office winning four each, Manchester receiving two each and Edinburgh and Brum getting one apiece.
However the new partners in Hong Kong comprised the entirety of the firm’s overseas promotions. Beijing, Shanghai, Singapore and Dubai will have to wait.
International: Hot and humid in HK
Projects and construction: Heat wave
Real Estate: Picnic weather
Corporate: Overcast but sunny in Leeds
IP and TMT: A cold day in Hell
