Paul Hastings raids Lovells for corporate first

US law firm Paul Hastings Janofsky & Walker has raided City giant Lovells to appoint its first corporate partner in London.

Keith Wilson, a specialist in asset finance, joins the London office to head up its corporate capability, bolstering the local team to seven. He is currently on gardening leave from Lovells.

Mark Eagan, chair of the Paul Hastings London office, said Wilson’s appointment was a critical step for the office and further appointments within corporate and finance were expected, including private equity.

The office currently has 21 lawyers and is in the process of taking on further space within its premises at 88 Wood St. This will add 16 offices, with the fit-out expected to cost £160,000 for partitioning, plus £3000 per room on furnishings.

Wilson’s appointment comes as the firm seeks to expand its international operations within Europe and Asia. Earlier this month firm’s merged with domestic Japanese firm Taiyo Law Office.

It also recently raided Norton Rose’s Italian practice to take a three-lawyer team, including partner Sergio Sambri, to bolster its fledgling Milan office.
