David is a Partner and leads the Commercial Group at Shoosmiths, comprising its contracts, privacy & data and IP teams.

Nick West, Chief Strategy Officer, Mishcon de Reya

Nick is Mishcon de Reya’s Chief Strategy Officer with overall responsibility for technological transformation within the firm. He leads the Technology and Strategy groups as well the firm’s research and development arm, MDR R&D. The latter includes establishing one of the industry’s first in-house Data Science and Machine Learning teams. He is also the Director of MDR LAB, a programme for tech start-ups in the legal space.

During his time at Mishcon de Reya Nick has overseen or been involved with various technological innovations that help the firm best serve clients, including the development of MDR Discover, setting up MDR LAB and the subsequent investment in and adoption of technology solutions, developing a suite of PropTech tools to revolutionise the firm’s Real Estate offering and, most recently, working with HM Land Registry to trial UK’s first digitised end-to-end residential property transaction.

Matt Byrne, Deputy Editor, The Lawyer

Matt Byrne is deputy editor at The Lawyer and writes news, features and opinion articles on a range of topics related to the business of law. In particular, Matt leads the editorial teams for major data-led reports including the UK 200, the US Top 50 and the Global Litigation 50 and has presented numerous live webinars and roundtable panel discussions on topical industry issues. Matt ran The Lawyer’s New York office between 2007 and 2009.
