Ogier R&I specialist chairs INSOL debate on insolvency of cellular companies

Ogier’s head of dispute resolution in Guernsey, partner advocate Mathew Newman, chaired a panel discussing cellular companies from a variety of different jurisdictions, including Guernsey, at INSOL International Channel Islands’ one day seminar in Guernsey on 13 September 2017.

The panel focused on the insolvency and restructuring of cellular companies, including protected cell companies, the problems encountered and the solutions found by restructuring professionals in those jurisdictions.

Nick Vermuelen from PricewaterhouseCoopers in Guernsey was also on the panel, together with Alex Potts from Sedgewick Chudleigh in Bermuda and Grant Jones from Simons Gainsford in Gibraltar.

Other panel sessions focused on virtual currencies and their interaction with insolvency and restructuring, schemes of arrangements and a legal update from a variety of jurisdictions including Jersey and Guernsey.

Ogier is a platinum sponsor of the event, with partners Simon Davies and Nigel Sanders, and counsels Alex Horsbrugh-Porter and Nicola Roberts – each of whom is a restructuring and insolvency specialist – also attending.
