Nuts about Brazil

It’s all about Brazil these days, it would seem, as European firms begin to march to the beat of the samba.

First DLA Piper’s alliance firm Campos Mello Advogados raids local rival Tozzini Freire Advogados for a 14-lawyer team that includes two partners (see story).

And now Garrigues has joined the party after hooking up with the wonderfully monikered Schmidt Valois Miranda Ferreira & Agel Advogados (see story).

Both the UK and Spanish outfits are also seeking licences to operate as foreign firms in the jurisdiction, their yen for caipirinhas showing no bounds.

Or, with the big kick-off a mere 48 hours away, it could be a simple case of World Cup fever getting the better of them, what with Kaka and his boys favourite to lift the cup for a sixth time.

After all, we couldn’t let this week pass without a healthy bit of bandwagon-jumping.da
