Appeals had been brought, respectively by Richborough Estates and Oxford Law, in respect of separate residential development proposals in Semington, Wiltshire.

Richard Humphreys QC acted for Wiltshire Council in both appeals.

Both appeals were dismissed (decision letters dated 14/12/17): conflict with settlement strategy; adverse landscape impact; 5 year supply of housing; and no significant new evidence that OAN out-of-date.

In 2016 Richard Humphreys QC also acted for Wiltshire Council in successfully resisting an appeal by Gladman Developments in respect of a residential development proposal in Shurnhold, Melksham, Wiltshire (decision letter October 2016).
