Emma Edhem, CC, deputy head of international law at No 5 Chambers, delivered the welcoming speech at a high level lunch of global corporate presidents, Chairmen and CEOs at the Mandarin Orient in Knightsbridge last week.

The lunch was designed as a powerhouse to facilitate bilateral trade and investment between the UK and Turkey where guests included the Prime Minister of Turkey with his Deputy Prime Minister, Economy Minister, various other Ministers, the Turkish and British Ambassadors, President of GSK, CEO of Lloyds of London, Founding Family of the Koc Group, CEO of Vodafone, Chairman and founder of Simit Sarayi, Investment Agency of Turkey, London and Partners, City UK among around 150 other conglomerates.

Emma’s speech centered on the strong political and business ties between the two countries and the ease with which OECD ranks Turkey to do business with on a global scale. Emma’s speech aimed at encouraging greater co-operation between the two countries and the meeting of targets set by Prime Minister Cameron his first visit to Turkey.
