Nike tells law firms: Just do it (so they did)

When sports retailer Nike made clear it was after a one-stop shop for legal advice, Dutch firm Kennedy Van der Laan internalised the brand’s famous slogan and Just Did it.

Unsurprising, given that the brand churns out $25bn in annual global revenues. But nothing is ever as easy as just doing it, especially given that Kennedy Van der Laan only has a presence in the Netherlands. With no intention of running away from this pitch, the firm slapped on its thinking cap, went for a jog and rounded things off with a nice sandwich (possibly made from Hovis bread, which happens to be launching its own legal team).

The combination of carbohydrates and adrenaline must have led them to one conclusion: opt for the alliance model and pitch as one.

So in came the Nike Alliance, made up of 21 firms across 17 jurisdictions. A bit like a mouth-watering, double-decker sandwich offering cheap legal advice.

Expect many more to do it.
