The most common name for a law firm partner working at a UK top 100 firm is David.
According to Companies House data analysed by The Lawyer, there are 358 partners at top 100 firms with that first name.
Among those with the Biblical moniker are Travers Smith managing partner David Patient, TLT managing partner David Pester and Bird & Bird CEO David Kerr.
The full list reflects the white, middle class and male nature of the profession at the time that the partners of today entered it. The most common female name is 23rd on the list overall: there are 87 Sarahs at partner level in the UK top 100, meaning there are four times as many Davids as Sarahs.
Some senior Sarahs include Linklaters corporate star Sarah Wiggins and Freshfields head of capital markets Sarah Murphy.
Just one top 100 partner shares a first name with Prime Minister Theresa May (though there are six Teresas), while there are 51 Jeremys, 12 Vinces, 42 Nigels and five called Boris.
In total, the 10,826 partners analysed had 2,007 different names between them. Of those, 1,241 were unique; that is, not shared with anyone else.
