Morgan Stanley lures Lovells’ Asia head of corporate

Lovells’ head of corporate for Asia is leaving the firm for an in-house role at Morgan Stanley.

Greg Terry will become Morgan Stanley’s managing director and general counsel for the Asia Pacific region, based in Hong Kong. However in an unusual arrangement will be leased back to Lovells on a consultancy basis for the remainder of the year.

Terry’s departure comes just one year after his arrival from an in-house position at Hong Kong conglomerate Jardine Matheson.

“Greg’s appointment was always for a limited period. However, he is undoubtedly leaving earlier than we expected,” said Hugh Nineham, Lovells’ head of corporate. “Greg’s departure does not affect our strategy in the region.”

The firm hopes his move will help cement its relationship with Morgan Stanley.

Lovells is not looking to fill Terry’s umbrella role as head of corporate in the region, either internally or externally. Over the next few months it will look at who is best placed to lead the corporate teams in each of the Asian jurisdictions where it has a presence.
