The Beijing Organizing Committee for the 2008 Summer Games carried out a rigorous selection process lasting more than six months.MoFo chairman Keith Wetmore, who is closely involved in the relationship, said: “This was one of the most prolonged and significant investments for business development for a single appointment that we've ever engaged in.”
He put the success down to the firm's Beijing presence and the entertainment expertise of its office in Century City, California. The firm advised the Salt Lake City Organizing Committee on licensing and entertainment contracts.
For Beijing, MoFo has taken the unusual step of appointing its own monitoring committee. The work will include marketing, media, intellectual property, venue construction, procurement, entertainment, technology and other related matters.
The committee's department of legal affairs said: “Our selection of international legal counsel for the 2008 games reflects our desire to handle the legal affairs of the Beijing Games at the highest standards of international legal practice.”
