Misys appoints general counsel as CEO amid merger talks

The general counsel of FTSE 250 listed software company Misys has been made acting chief executive officer following the resignation of the present chief.

An investor notice today (7 February) stated that general counsel Tom Kilroy is joining the board as acting CEO with immediate effect following the morning announcement that incumbent CEO Mike Lawrie is set to leave on 31 March 2012.

Kilroy will lead the company through its CEO transition and its £2bn merger talks with fellow banking software company Temenos (8 February 2012).

Kilroy has been at Misys since August 2009. Before that he was general counsel at GE Healthcare and has also had stints at Amersham and Hasbro.

Lawrie is reportedly joining IT services group CSC when he leaves at the end of next month.
