Simon Laird

RPC

An excellent 2023 for RPC insurance head Simon Laird was no overnight success; it was the culmination of a sustained plan to boost his group’s offering over the course of half a decade. Laird’s staunch dedication to promoting homegrown talent over bringing in laterals has been repaid with more than 20 promoted partners coming up through the ranks in both the claims and corporate/commercial sides of the insurance group. Laird estimates that revenue derived from the insurance group has grown by an average of 13 per cent year-on-year in the last few years and looks set to hit that level again this year.

Name any of the world’s key insurers or reinsurers and you can bet that Laird’s acted for them in some capacity. The last year saw many of these businesses review their panels after a prolonged delay following the Covid-19 pandemic with a handful of successful renewals. The coming year will bring more panel renewals, but, importantly, it will also see a shift in strategy from Laird as he seeks to broaden RPC’s insurance offering to move into both aviation and marine insurance. If you’re looking for a move and work in either of these areas, you could do far worse than send your CV to Simon Laird.
