In the fast-paced realm of corporate law, Richard Wilkey stands at the helm of a dynamic team that has propelled Harrison Clark Rickerbys (HCR) to new heights. Leading a department of 100 lawyers, Wilkey has overseen substantial growth in recent years, which has seen the team regularly completing more M&A deals than any other firm in the UK.
In particular, Wilkey is a stand-out in the mid-market. He has helped the team to navigate transactions up to £600m in value, ranging from the healthcare sector to private equity dealings with well-regarded mid-market private equity houses.
Looking forward, Wilkey’s strategic focus is on maturing the UK operation while furthering international expansion on deals. At present, around 25 per cent of HCR’s corporate affairs possess an international dimension. However, Wilkey expresses unwavering confidence in the team’s ability to substantially expand this percentage.
The challenge for Wilkey, however, will be to maintain a balance between growth and preserving the cohesive team culture that he says has been the cornerstone of Harrison Clark Rickerbys’ corporate success. If he can cultivate even a fraction of the determined spirit embodied by his cherished Welsh Rugby side, he is bound to realise his goal.
