Rebecca Chalkley

Red Lion Chambers

Red Lion Chambers’ Rebecca Chalkley is something of a rarity at the Bar with a high-end practice that straddles both criminal and commercial law. Last year she rose to prominence in the public consciousness for her successful prosecution of the six-times grand slam tennis champion Boris Becker, but this work is only one dimension of her practice. Chalkley has a fierce reputation in the financial crime arena, and last year was junior to Brian Altman KC in his review of the SFO following the collapse of the Serco trial. Alongside this, she’s regularly instructed for and against the SFO. If that wasn’t enough, for the last few years, Chalkley was central to the Department of Justice’s pursuit of US billionaire Robert Brockman for tax evasion having been instructed by the Bermuda attorney general.

With prosecutions for the Environment Agency, the General Medical Council, and the General Optical Council, it’s hard to know where Chalkley will find the time to guide further clients in private prosecutions. Certainly, a leading silk in waiting.
