Lucy Burrows

3VB

3VB’s deputy senior clerk Lucy Burrows has been spearheading projects that have been integral in linking clerks and barristers and improving diversity at the Bar. She gained a wealth of experience at leading commercial sets such as One Essex Court, 4 Pump Court and Essex Court before rejoining 3VB in January 2022. She now sits on the set’s Corporate Social Responsibility Committee and is working on its strategic direction.

Burrows’ passion for developing fairness at the Bar has led to the much-anticipated Workplace Survey Report, the results of which came out in December. The report is the first of its kind in the clerking profession and addresses the working lives of chambers’ staff and contractors, including barristers’ clerks, and was designed by the Legal Practice Management Association and Institute of Barristers’ Clerks, of which Burrows is Chair and runs its mentoring scheme.

Burrows is the only clerk on the Bar Council’s Wellbeing at the Bar Committee, giving her unparalleled insight into sides of the profession other than commercial litigation. She is also the only clerk on the Middle Temple Talent Retention Scheme committee, a group created in 2020 that supports those returning to the Bar from a time out of practice.
