Quinn Emanuel’s Karabeth Ovenden kicked off her 2022 as a newly-appointed partner of the largest litigation firm in the world. Not more than three months in and she achieved a ground-breaking restructure of Abu Dhabi-headquartered NMC Healthcare. The long 15-to-20-hour days she and her team pulled off during Covid-19 in order to save a hospital provider paid off. The healthcare company went into administration in 2020 over alleged fraud committed by its founder. Ovenden led the restructuring of over $7bn in debt back last March.
Ovenden’s work with NMC Health is far from over, as she and her team pursue litigation over the alleged fraud with several claims filed last year. She also has several hefty trials this year including in arbitration.
Despite the busy workload, Ovenden manages to sit in the Magistrates’ Court once or twice a month as part of her pro bono work.
